Half-a-Hundred Ripples
Page 2

Like Mother Teresa, we caregivers know that: “Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”

We are particularly aware that what we do and say each day has greater impact, greater reach, and far greater importance than we might ever imagine as we are doing or saying it.

Perhaps if we pass along the wisdom and the beauty of James W. Foley’s words, others will be more aware as well…

“Drop a pebble in the water: just a splash, and it is gone; But there’s half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,

Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing on out to the sea. And there is no way of telling where the end is going to be.

Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute it is gone; But there’s half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,

They keep spreading, spreading, spreading from the center as they go, And there is no way to stop them, once you’ve started them to flow.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: just a flash and it is gone; But there’s half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,

Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each splashing, dashing wave, Til you wouldn’t believe the volume of the one kind word you gave.”

Surely we could create far more than half-a-hundred ripples if each one of us dropped a word of cheer or kindess to others along the way.

Wishing you a kind and caring day.  --Jackie

This reminds me so much of the "pay it forward idea." Just one kind deed can help start the chain of a million kind deeds.
