With fresh garden tomatoes plentiful at farmer’s markets and in home gardens, now’s the time for making salsa. Quick and easy, homemade salsa can be tailored to your taste buds and provides a healthy, refreshing condiment. My next door neighbor shared this recipe with me when I first moved into my house and planted my first vegetable garden. She had many years of experience gardening and making salsa and we liked her recipe and have been making it ever since. In fact, I just made some yesterday and it’s already gone!
Salsa 2 cups of tomatoes, cut into chunks (I have even used cherry tomatoes) ½ cup finely chopped onion 2 fresh jalapeños (more if desired) ¼ cup fresh cilantro 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice 1 teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon pepper ½ teaspoon sugar Optional: hot sauce to your taste Place all ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend to desired consistency. Enjoy!
