The day of reckoning is here. Back on July 17, I set a goal to lose five pounds by August 17. Five pounds in one month – a sensible goal, I thought.

Well, I weighed myself on the 17th, and my total weight loss for the past month was three pounds. Not horrible, but not great either, since I didn’t meet my goal. But I’ve chosen to focus on the “glass half-full” side of the story: I’m three pounds lighter than I was one month ago!

My goal for Sept. 17 is to lose four pounds, which would make a total of seven pounds, which is almost 10 pounds…Hmmm, I seem to be getting ahead of myself here…

Now comes the hard part: staying motivated. I plan to award myself a little prize when I meet my September goal: an extra-large hot fudge sundae! Just kidding…Actually, I am going to treat myself to a professional massage.

How do you stay motivated? I’d love to hear how you reward yourself when you reach a goal.

Three-quarters to Half Portions
To make the quickest strides I have found dividing your food portions per meal in quarters. Start by reducing your consumption to 75% of what is on the plate per meal. We are encouraged by what meals cost or our conscious to eat everything, but if you can leave it you will find you don't miss it and you will drop a couple additional pounds per week without starving yourself.

well what you need to do is to take a dinner salad plate and use it as your dinner plate, that is a visual cue to your brain that when your plate is empty your full, it works :grin

I agree that a salad plate and no seconds is a good way to eat less. Of course, you have to give up that sweet tooth too.
