Page 7 of 12 I wish I had a really awesome reason for my three-week hiatus from blogging--like I've been training for a marathon and haven't had a second to get on the computer. Or I've been backpacking through Europe and just returned to the states, with memories of quaint little villages and glamorous cities all fresh in my mind. But if I claimed any of that to be true, it would be lies. All lies.
Basically, I've just been out-of-control busy, both in and out of work. Fortunately, I've kept up my workout routine and have jumped back into a healthy eating regimen. I'm still off the bird (I attempted a few bites of turkey at Thanksgiving, but it all ended up in my napkin) and have also reached a good carb balance. On a more exciting front (well for me, at least), I've received an early birthday present from my parents...my very own juicer!!! I did lots of research online about productivity, ease of cleaning, etc. -- and finally decided on the Breville juicer (model # BJE200XL). Lots of the juicers had consumer cons associated with them (along with the pros of course) but this juicer had virtually no negatives. And upon using it today for the first time, I am in total agreement. I juiced just two apples and was rewarded with a refreshing glass of crisp, fresh apple juice (yum yum!) Plus, clean-up was a snap, which can seriously make or break the entire experience. Tomorrow, I'm going to load up on more fruits and veggies because I plan to juice every day for breakfast. Trust me when I say that if you juice regularly, it will truly change the way you look and feel. Ninety-five percent of the nutrient content of fruits and vegetables is found in the juice. Plus, when you drink straight juice (instead of eating the fruit) the vitamins and nutrients are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream.
Honestly, when I drink a glass of fresh squeezed juice (my favorite ingredients to work with are carrots, apples, beets, cucumbers, and spinach), I can feel my body saying THANK YOU! But now that I have my very own juicer--thanks Mom and Dad--I'm totally in control and am eager to experiment with new combinations. Time for bed. No Folgers in a cup for me tomorrow. I'll take a carrot, apple, beet concoction over that any day.
